Decision to move ourselves

We had been considering boxing up our own stuff and moving it ourselves this time. One of the guys in the class has made quite a bit doing that. They have quite a bit more stuff than we do, I think. Kirt went into the moving office to get a quote yesterday and if we were to do it right now, we would get a little more than it would cost us. Not worth it to us, that's for sure. So we will do what we did coming out here.

Potty Training

Well for the last few days we have been trying to get Jason interested in going in the potty. The last 2 mornings he woke up dry and since it is fairly new and around 5 am we sent him back to bed. Within a half hour he comes back saying he is "so wet". Today he actually went poo in the potty. I think we might be getting there. He seems to recognize the sensation when he does not have a diaper on, but don't know that I really want him running around the house naked. Maybe there is hope that he will be pretty far along in the process before we drive 2000 miles across the country.

Birthday Party at Chuck E Cheese

We went to a friend's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese on Saturday. The kids had a blast. It is amazing how quickly that place can wear the kids out. While we were there, I was thinking about what to do for the kids birthdays this year. They both will fall in the middle of the move back east, so we are tossing around the idea of having something here before we go with their friends and then do something with just the family on their actual birthdays.

San Diego Zoo

Mama panda getting a drink
Baby panda up in the tree sleeping
Daddy, I think.
This African elephant was posing for pictures, so I thought I would take one.

There was a family day this Friday and with the President's Day on Monday, we decided to get out of the desert if only for a day. We got some tickets to the San Diego Zoo, booked a room at the Navy Lodge in San Diego and off we went. It takes about 3-4 hours to get to San Diego from here, so we left after Emily got done with school on Friday stayed the night at the Navy Lodge and first thing the next morning we were off to the zoo. The kids had a great time. We were able to see the baby giant panda, one of the highlights of the day for sure. Once we walked around and saw all that we wanted to see, we hopped on the guided bus tour to see things from a different perspective. The bus tour was included in the type of ticket we bought, so why not right. All in all a trip worth taking. If you are planning to go, the terrain if very hilly but certainly doable in a day we left at around 2:00.

Weight Loss group

Since the New Year there has been a group of wives here that have been really trying to lose weight. Some have gone public with something that most women hold as a closely guarded secret, their actual weight. Not some number that they feel comfortable saying, but the real thing. I'm trying to decide if I want to join them or just do my own thing.

T-6 Ride

Kirt was able to fly in a T-6 this week. They were supposed to do this last week, but it was delayed.

Super Bowl Party

How many people can fit in my living room? There are a couple more standing in the hallway. There was a total of 44 people there (including kids). Jason was really excited about watching the game! Thanks Animal and Eleanor for helping with him.
FFFlats hanging out with the ladies!!

Well the party is over, I think everyone had a good time. The kids played well. I guess there are advantages to Pacific Time the game started at 3:30 here, so everyone was able to finish the game by about 7:30. The wonderful part about this group is that just about everyone offered to clean up so by about 8:00 the house looked more like it normally does. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Birthday Party

Emily and Jason were invited to a birthday party at the Jungle Zone this weekend. They had a lot of fun. With the Superbowl Party tomorrow at our house, they should be worn out on Monday.
